Biography
The Honourable Geoff Regan, P.C., M.P.
Geoff currently serves as Natural Resources Critic for the Official Opposition.
Geoff served as Minister of Fisheries and Oceans and Regional Minister for Nova Scotia from 2003 to 2006. His many accomplishments include designating the Sable Gully as a Marine Protected Area and signing the 2005 Atlantic Accord on behalf of the federal government.
In February 2004, Geoff was appointed to act as Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada in matters related to Maher Arar.
He also served at Parliamentary Secretary to the Leader of the Government in the House of Commons from 2001 to 2003.
Geoff was first elected as the Member of Parliament for Halifax West in October 1993. He was re-elected to his fifth term as the representative for Halifax West in October 2008.He is a dedicated Nova Scotian who has a deep commitment to serving the people of his community, his riding and his province. He has earned a reputation as an open, accessible and hardworking Member of Parliament.
Before entering public life, Geoff practiced law and was an active community volunteer. He is a former president of the Bedford Board of Trade and a former member of the executive of the Halifax Board of Trade. He also has served as chair of the Metro Food Bank and Beacon House.
Geoff obtained his Bachelor of Laws from Dalhousie University in 1983 and was admitted to the Nova Scotia Barrister's Society in 1984. He completed a Bachelor of Arts degree from St. Francis Xavier University in 1980.

Geoff and his wife Kelly live in Bedford with their three children, Caitlin, Nicole and Harrison.
